The Best of 2025

Once again without fail I am writing this just as the final day of the month closes. I thought I might quickly write about my favourite piece of media released this year.

Andor - Season 2

Without a doubt Andor is my favourite piece of media released this year. Like, it's probably one of the few pieces of media that actually matched my incredibly unrealistic expectations/hype. Now in all honesty, the first two arcs of this season are actually not that memorable (except for the wedding beat), but this slack is instantly erased by the sheer existence of the latter two arcs.

The Ghorman Massacre arc is perfection in my eyes, specifically episode 8 which without a doubt deserves it's 9.8 metacritic score. It was obvious how events in that episode would pan out, yet I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I also think Syril's character was handled brilliantly, and I greatly enjoyed the realism involved. The episode also concludes with an orchestral piece of the Ghorman anthem, a piece which became my number one listen on my YouTube year-in-review thing. The arc then concludes with an episode dedicated to Mon Mothma's escape, which is once again some gripping screenplay.

The final arc is equally as good, with each character's arcs finally concluding and setting themselves up for their parts in Rogue One. Luthen was easily my favourite character in the show, and I'm happy to say that while his conclusion was pretty much written on the wall since his introduction, it was still incredibly satisfying. The actor for the character Kleya, Elizabeth Dulau, was phenominal in this arc, which was especially shocking given it's her first proper role. The droid from Rogue One, K-2SO also has numerous Terminator-esque scenes, which I absolutely adored.

Overall, I'm actually slightly ticked off with Andor, as nothing in the future for the Star Wars franchise will probably ever reach the same heights.
